Mich. Charity Raffles Off 71 Charger
01 08 10 - 13:08 For years, I've been supporting a local charity, the Pontiac Rescue Mission, which is now known as Grace Centers of Hope. I'm not a big supporter of religious type charities, but unlike the big ones, I like the fact that the money that this joint raises goes straight to helping their clients with little administrative overhead. A couple of years ago, this charity made news when the CEO's daughter competed as Miss Michigan in the Miss USA Pageant. Those newspaper headlines were pretty out of character for these folks, because they typically go about the job of helping others in relative obscurity. This year, they're raffling off a 1971 Charger to raise operating capital for the year. How cool is that? What the heck? That's darn few tickets for such a cool car. The odds are pretty darn good, so we all have a fair-to-middlin' chance of driving this MOPAR home. (I suspect that Southern Motors has had a hand in helping them set this deal up)
